Dr Swee Lin Chen Yi Mei MBBS(Hons) FRACP PhD
Swee Lin Chen Yi Mei is a Melbourne trained Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist. She combines private practice with her public appointments at Box Hill Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital. She has a broad range of interests in all areas of gastroenterology and hepatology, including gastroscopy and colonoscopy, liver disease, coeliac disease, reflux disease, management of obesity, functional bowel disorders, and inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis).
Swee Lin completed her undergraduate medical degree with honours at Monash University in 2004. She went on to her complete her physician training at St Vincent’s Hospital and advanced gastroenterology training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. She was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2013. Swee Lin went on to complete a hepatology research fellowship at St Vincent’s Hospital. She was awarded the Postgraduate Clinical Research Scholarship by the Gastroenterology Society of Australia to undertake a PhD through the University of Melbourne investigating viral hepatitis, and has published this work in international gastroenterology journals.
Swee Lin holds the clinical lead role for the Coeliac Clinic at Box Hill Hospital and plays an active role in clinical trials and ongoing research in this area. She is also involved in the liver clinic and endoscopy service at Box Hill Hospital. Swee Lin has an active interest in hepatitis C and management with the new direct acting anti-viral agents. Her experience dates back to the interferon-era. Swee Lin also performs Fibroscan and recently trained in the medical management of obesity at St Vincent’s Hospital.
